  • Scheduled scans and automatic history: create and manage one-time, daily, weekly, or monthly scans through Windows Task Scheduler; run them while logged off without storing a password; configure elevation, power, wake, missed-start, and retention behavior; review their status and results; and store later snapshots as compact deltas when that saves space, with an automatic full-scan fallback when necessary.
  • Reports and data export: save the Overview as a self-contained HTML report; export the file tree, largest, newest, modified, or duplicate-file results to Excel or CSV; and configure a scheduled scan to generate the selected report automatically after each complete scan.
  • Faster and safer saved-scan management: a local artifact catalog lists large scan collections without reopening every file, distinguishes manual scans, automatic snapshots, scheduled and partial results, full scans, and dependent deltas, protects required base scans, prevents path-hash collisions from matching the wrong file, and highlights unusually large scan history for review.
  • SQL Server storage diagnostics: identify MDF, NDF, and LDF files under registered local SQL Server storage locations, grouped by instance where possible, without connecting to SQL Server or implying that database files can be deleted directly.
  • IIS storage review: read the effective IIS configuration, identify access and failed-request log locations, review older logs by age, and show the physical folders used by sites, applications, and virtual directories—including deployments outside inetpub—without double-counting shared content.
  • Stale print-job review: find large older jobs still held in local Windows print queues, show the document, printer, owner, submission time, state, and size, and ask Windows to cancel only the jobs selected by the user. SizeTrend never deletes spool files directly.
  • VMware storage review: recognize virtual-machine folders and their disks, snapshots, suspended-memory files, and configuration files; separately flag large VMDK files that may be orphaned; and direct the user to verify ownership in VMware.
  • Developer build-artifact discovery: use Cargo, Visual Studio, Delphi, and recent VS Code project metadata to find generated Rust, Node, Python, Java, CMake, executable, package, library, DCU, bin, obj, and other intermediate output, grouped by project with shared output counted once.
  • AI coding-tool storage guidance: add Kiro and Cursor storage analysis alongside the existing Codex and Claude cleanup guidance, distinguishing rebuildable caches from conversations, sessions, settings, extensions, logs, steering data, execution history, and agent worktrees that should be preserved or reviewed separately.
  • Broader cache and application-storage guidance: distinguish persistent Firefox, Chrome, and Edge site data from ordinary browser cache; clean only verified Discord and Spotify caches while preserving offline downloads; include Windows SystemTemp; and improve shared-folder accounting for installed applications, Comet data, and Outlook PST and OST locations.
  • More Windows-native operation: follow the Windows light or dark application setting throughout the interface, accept typed or pasted scan paths directly from the status bar, show Low and Critical free-space states, and remember the user's administrator-startup choice while retaining the non-elevated fallback scanner.
  • Faster, clearer analysis: run Overview producers independently, publish completed sections as soon as they are ready, cache project metadata, expand aggregate recommendations into their individual locations, start file-search progress immediately, and keep What Changed results independent and consistently sorted.
  • Safer deletion: show the selected paths in Recycle Bin and permanent-delete confirmations, compact very long paths, use the scanned tree to prepare large deletions, detect descendants created during deletion, and name applications that Windows reports as holding remaining files open.
  • Reliability improvements: avoid stack overflow on unusually deep NTFS hierarchies, tolerate inaccessible directory monitors, improve saved-scan collision and partial-result diagnostics, and make scan-progress completion and contrast more consistent.

Version 2.2

  • New drive type support: In addition to NTFS, SizeTrend now supports lightning-fast direct scans of FAT32 and exFAT volumes, including removable drives. It also supports BitLocker-protected volumes.
  • Much faster file-content search: Searching inside files can now run up to 20 times faster while retaining case-insensitive ASCII, UTF-8, and Unicode matching.
  • Much faster duplicate detection: Finding duplicate files by content can now run up to 10 times faster.
  • More complete “What Changed” results: Comparisons now identify files and folders that shrank or disappeared, as well as those that grew, with clearer visual change indicators.
  • Expanded storage review: SizeTrend now identifies additional storage used by torrent and streaming applications, Dropbox caches, Downloads grouped by age, Codex and Claude temporary artifacts, and Git worktrees and repositories.
  • Better application storage details: Largest Applications can now show an application's individual program and data locations, with improved application icons and clearer size breakdowns.
  • Improved tools and feature discovery: The expanded Tools tab provides quicker access to application, game-library, Windows storage, and cleanup tools.
  • Reliability and safety improvements: Better handling of malformed or damaged NTFS metadata, invalid or truncated saved scans, reparse points, online-only files, renamed or refreshed folders, and cancellation of parallel searches and comparisons.

  • Performance improvement: scans of large NTFS drives can now run up to three times as fast, with optimized MFT read-ahead, processing, and file-tree construction.
  • Responsiveness improvement: the folder tree and Overview become usable sooner and remain responsive while remaining analysis finishes.
  • Performance improvement: Largest Applications analysis can now run 8-10 times faster. What Changed, rescans, and saved-scan comparisons also complete much faster.
  • Saved scan improvements: the manager now shows scan sizes and automatic-history storage usage, allows automatic snapshots to be enabled or disabled, can reveal scans in Explorer, and is directly accessible from the Overview.

  • New feature: the Overview side panel summarizes disk usage, highlights the largest folders and unusually large files, and shows recent changes without requiring you to dig through the folder tree.
  • New feature: expanded cleanup recommendations identify temporary files, browser and application caches, crash reports, previous Windows installations, Windows component storage, downloaded debugging symbols, and package caches, then use the appropriate Windows or application cleanup tool.
  • New feature: review guidance brings attention to large Downloads, locally available OneDrive files, Outlook data files, backups, restore points, and other storage that may be valuable and should not be deleted automatically.
